Linacre College - Reception Refurbishment
Bespoke reception refurbishment in a prestigious Oxford College.
The Francis Joinery team was appointed by Linacre College, a graduate University of Oxford college to provide a new reception area which acted as a focal point for students and visitors.
Our experts worked closely with the architect to develop the original design concept into a workable scheme for manufacturing and installation.
The end result featured a 270° curved reception desk made from Counter Oak, trimmed to incorporate a Forbo Maroleum writing surface. Adjacent to the desk is a round pigeon hole unit, connected via a doorway which was created to act as part of the fire curtain, combining form and function.
Oak wall cladding, doors and screens were supplied throughout the reception area, as well as providing painted parcel storage shelves and an additional pigeon hole unit. Further painted shelving units, painted made from fire resistant MDF were supplied for the back office.
All of the components were manufactured off site and then installed to encompass the university holidays. Extensive consultation with the client and architect was maintained across the contract to ensure all fitted furniture fulfilled its purpose.
